First Assistant Ltd (FAL) has been established with the needs of the surgeon and the patient in mind.

FAL provides reliable skilful Registered Nurse First Surgical Assistants (RNFSA) that have acquired the specific knowledge, understanding and skills to assist in the provision of care for surgical patients throughout the entire perioperative journey.

The RNFSA will be able to assist with the booking and running of the list, ensuring all necessary equipment is available. They can assist with patient preparation preoperatively. They are also trained to provide advanced clinical assistance throughout the surgical episode, including retraction, exposure, dissection, haemostasis and wound closure.

The RNFSA is also able to assist with postoperative care from making phone calls, education of patients and families to assisting in clinics.
